I can't get multiplayer to work with Xbox core subscription, keeps saying I need ultimate?

May I ask, are you trying to play online games on your Xbox console?

You will need to have an active Xbox game pass ultimate or Xbox game pass core to enable the online multiplayer feature and play online games. Without the subscription, you can only play your games offline.

There are certain games that don't have offline but online multiplayer only which needs an Xbox Game Pass Core or Xbox Game Pass ultimate subscription in order to play them.

It's saying you need Game Pass Core (new name for Gold) or Game Pass Ultimate (which includes core) to play online multiplayer. If you already have one of the subscriptions, then you should check to make sure it has not expired, or you are using the correct account that has the subscription.

First you need core or ultimate for multiplayer

Gamepass for console doesn't include multiplayer and needs core or ultimate

And yes you need a payment option on file for ultimate
