I can't get Java for free even though I own bedrock

Or was the "Minecraft for Windows" edition you purchased?

If you purchased the "For Windows" edition, you can get Java simply by signing in here; the button to get the full edition should appear.

So just wandering i am actually still unable to get bedrock and i have had the java version for many years i have transferred my account across but i am only able to buy the full thing any ideas only really recently bothered me in all honesty didnt realise this was the case till this mornig after i discovered my nephew had minecraft on his ipad and was like you know i can build him some cool worlds to play in but am not buying the whole thing again.

I have tried it and it says that I have to buy it so i'll wait a couple more days thank you for your help .

In this case, I would suggest you to uninstall your current launcher. Then, go to the Microsoft Store and get the Bundle (Minecraft Java + Minecraft for Windows). It will be available for you for free and it will install the launcher with the two Minecraft versions for you.

If the Bundle is not available for free for you right now, please wait a few hours. In the official offer page, it says that the offer may take up to 72 hours to sync all users that are eligible for it.
