I had just migrated my Mojang account to a Microsoft account. My account is over 13 and for some reason is says that

I can't play multiplayer because of a setting on the Microsoft account. I can't find the setting to turn multiplayer on.

I can't find the setting to allow me to play minecraft multiplayer.

Hello @JackBoyEditor! I hope that you are doing well today!

Here's how you can change the Multiplayer's settings on your Microsoft account:

    1. Open your web browser and navigate to the official Xbox website. Sign in using your credentials.
    2. Now, click on the tab of Xbox One/Windows 10 Online Safety. Under t the option of You can join multiplayer games, set it to Allow.
I hope this helps you out!

Sorry if this is a bit late but I still get getting redirected to the support page. I have checked and there are no organizers linked to my account. I know for a fact that the account that I'm using is 13+. Is there anything else that I'm missing.

I can't find the setting to allow me to play minecraft multiplayer.

Hi JackBoyEditor, I hope you're doing great out there despite the issue that you're experiencing. I am an Independent advisor and I am here to help you in regards to your concern.

For you to manage it you can simply sign in to https://account.xbox.com/settings.

If the system detects that your account is a child account you will be redirected to a support site and if not you will be able to change it successfully.

If you were redirected to a support page, please sign in to https://account.microsoft.com/family and check if there is an organizer account linked to your account then use the organizer account so sign in to https://account.xbox.com/settings then "allow" the setting on this screenshot:

Child cannot access Minecraft multiplayer even though we have allowed it in the settings

    Thanks for finding the page.

I wonder how this plays into the following:

    https://help.minecraft.net/hc/en-us/articles/4408968616077

    FAMILY GROUP MULTIPLAYER FEATURES

    3. If Minecraft is rated above a member's age limit, enable Allow gameplay under Enable Minecraft to grant the member and exception to play it.

    • Enable Multiplayer to let a member play Minecraft with others online, even if their account settings block them from multiplayer features.

We've set the multiplayer as "allow", and the page says this should override age restrictions, but multiplayer just remains grayed out and when hovering over it it tells us to check our microsoft account settings... which we have. :(

Sorry this issue is such a mess.

I can't play minecraft in multiplayer despite my xbox privacy settings allowing me to play in multiplayer

    Hi Oliver,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Xbox Community. I understand that you are having issues playing multiplayer in Minecraft and you are receiving an error message.

This error usually appears when your Xbox permissions are not configured properly.

    1. Go to https://account.xbox.com/settings

    2. Login using your Microsoft account with Minecraft.

(if it doesn't say it and directs you to the website, make sure you're signed in using the correct email)

Note: If you don't have an Xbox account, it will ask you to make one, so make any account.

    3. If you scroll down, under your username and Avatar it should say "Xbox one/windows 10 online safety" click on that

    4. Scroll down until you see "You can join multiplayer games" allow or block,

Select "Allow" to enable multiplayer in your account

Relaunch Minecraft and you should be able to join any multiplayer server.

Once done, you may sign back in to Minecraft and should be able to play multiplayer.

Important: If you just recently configured this setting, please allow at least few hours for the new settings to reflect to all Microsoft servers. You may try to sign out and sign back in to your Minecraft to resync your profile.

    Regards,

    Alvaro
