I can't download Xbox App on new Windows 11 PC

We understand that you are unable to install Xbox app back to your PC with an error code: 0x80248007. It looks like you have tried some troubleshooting that we would like to recommend. If you can, you may try our suggestions below:

Check and install the latest update of Windows:

• It is important your PC is up to date. Install PC updates including Optional Update. Guide - Update Windows
  
• Restart device after update.
  

Install Xbox app:

• Try to install the Xbox app through the link by selecting the Download the App. Link: Xbox App for Windows PC | Xbox.
  
• Open the downloaded installer then install Xbox app.
  
• Install the Xbox app and let us know if this will launch.
  
• Note:
  
  • System requirements vary by game; performance scales with higher-end systems. Playing games on the Xbox app for PC may require switching out of Windows S mode.
    
  • ARM devices support the Xbox cloud gaming feature only on the Xbox app. Game Pass Ultimate or a supported free-to-play game is required for cloud gaming.
    

Next, if issue persists, please try to run our beta repair tool:

• Check the Xbox app version number since you cannot launch Xbox app, go to PC Settings > Apps > Apps and feature > look for Xbox and select the Xbox app. Look for app's version number.
  
  • Version number is 2311.1001.7.0 or newer (higher), try to download the repair tool for Gaming Services (Beta).
    
  • For older versions, please update Xbox app through Microsoft Store.

Hi,

You'll need the Windows 10 app to download PC Game pass titles such as the Wolfenstein games - unless you're running Windows 11 as the app is already part of the Operating System.

Wolfenstein The New Order, The Old Blood and the New Colossus are all available in the United Kingdom.

In my case, the issue was caused by something I chose to do (and was advised to) with Windows 11 - throttling Windows Update download speeds.

Windows Update > Delivery Optimization > Advanced Settings

I had previously had issues with download speeds on my new Windows 11 PC and was told that Windows Update sometimes hogged all the resources. I went here and limited its bandwidth. Unfortunately, Microsoft neglects to tell you that it ties Windows Store and the Xbox app downloads into the same resources as Windows Update, so when I chose to limit Update I also kneecapped Store and Xbox. I reset everything there to what it was before, restarted my PC, checked to make sure my changes were saved, and then went to the Xbox app. Lo, it downloads my games normally now.

(Incidentally, this is another in a line of incidents I've had with Windows 11, Xbox app, or Microsoft stuff, where I went to the communities and support staff, no one could help me, and I went and found the solution myself)
