I can't download any xbox games to my HDD without getting the error code 0x80070005

Well my last suggestion helped me with a similar issue and my solution was deleting certain files on all the accounts on the pc including admin account. Go to file explorer>this pc> (whatever drive you use)> windowsapps> msixvc> and delete all those files, you may have to change read wrote permissions but after that I was able to download

Oh my, this is more difficult it seems. Well, I suggest you try this:

Open the Settings app it is the gear in the start menu.

Open Accounts

Click Sign-in Options

Scroll down to Privacy

Uncheck "Use my sign-in info to automatically finish setting up my device and reopen my apps after an update and restart."

Restart your PC!

Still no luck.

I think I’ll just get my IT buddy over to have a look unless you have any other ideas.

Thanks for the quick reply, I tired all of the steps you mentioned, and they all seemed to work as intended, but did not fix the underlying problem. I'm thinking it might be some xbox game apps that didn't and can't seem to be deleted from my HDD before the windows forced reinstall. I'm still getting the 0x80070005 error code when I try to use the change where new content is saved function in the windows settings. all of the other sections can be changed from C: to D: except for the apps. When I try to switch to D: it asks if I want to "Delete other apps?", "This drive has apps from another device. To use this drive, the other apps must fist be deleted. Do you want to continue?" I click Yes, it runs for maybe 20 seconds and says We couldn't set you default save location" with error code "0x80070005". This is the same code that the xbox app gives me so I think the problem lies outside of the app itself.

Open Settings, click Update and Security and then Windows Update;

Click Check for Updates;

Click the Download and Install Now option, if available;

Also, check the Microsoft Store for any updates on the Xbox apps and its services.

Then try this:

Go to windows settings > apps > search for gaming services app > click on it and select advanced options.

After that, click repair and then restore, open the app and try again.

Then do the same for the Xbox app:

Go to windows settings > apps > search for Xbox app > click on it and select advanced options.

After that, click repair and then restore, open the app and try again.

If it still doesn't work you're going to uninstall the games services using a powershell command, then you're going to open the gamepass app, it will ask you to download and install the game services again :

In the windows search bar type Powershell > Right click and select open as administrator > Type the command: "get-appxpackage Microsoft.GamingServices | remove-Appxpackage –allusers" > Wait for the process to finish and then restart the PC, then open your Xbox gamepass app, it will ask you to install the gaming services again, install it and try again.
