I can't connect to xbox live servers on AOE2 DEF with my own WiFi.

My Xbox hasn't got built in wifi, which is why I'm using an ethernet cable.

I'm getting the error "your dns server can't resolve xbox live server names".

My xbox connects to the network but not the internet.

And I have tried setting Googles DNS servers and the OpenDNS servers, which resulted in it not even connecting to the network

I'm having this issue but for my own account. There are no parental settings or privacy settings that I can find that should restrict this. This wasn't an issue of AoEE but it is an issue on AoE2E.

EDIT/SOLUTION

I went through the other xbox apps on my PC and made sure I was signed into all of them - most importantly the Xbox Console Companion. After that I could sign into Xbox Live through AoE2E with no problem

are you connect to Xbox live servers?

though you may be connect to the WiFi it may not have connect to Xbox live

Are you able to update the console?

I have looked all over this forum for tips about connection issues... i own the server and it says check connection or can't find host server.. i own the server and can play on other servers just not my own... also i have noticed it happens mostly on east
coast servers... anything i can do about this. won't rent servers if i can't play on them!

UPDATE: i bridged the connection, and then put in a static ip address- this time it seemed to work, i connect to the network, but of course, another problem has occurred. my dns server can't resolve xbox live server names. i tried the xbox suggested one
and then went on and typed in my own ip address, which i was told to do, to no avail. still stuck.
