I Can’t Choose A Gamertag!

For the story, I recently have gotten my hands onto a new Xbox one. Being new to Xbox and all I decide to make myself a new Microsoft account today and start playing me some videogames (I tried this on the Xbox app since i’m far from home.)

Arise the issue, i’ve been trying to find a gamertag for 30 minutes to no avail, even the ones which are just plain gibberish are taken! I have none in the suggested gamertag menu either and it seems I can’t choose any gamertag for my new account? Help!

This page has a checker to see if the Gamertag you'd like to use is available. Are you trying in a browser or on the console? I'd check if you get the same error following
one of
the different methods found here.

Sorry to heat about your situation.

But, why not use your current GamerTag?

You can use any variation of letters and/or numbers to create your GamerTag. As long as it is not objectionable to someone, it can be used.

Let me help you with your concern today. Please note that this is a public forum, I will be responding to you in short period of time and I apologize for a delay in response. As I am merely a user trying to provide insight and information that may be helpful.

I'm afraid if the system is saying the gamertag is not allowed, there is no way around that. The gamertag that you’re trying to create can’t be used at this time. It is blocked on Xbox Live for a reason, you will have to choose a different gamertag.
