  1. I can't access Minecraft after the migration?

    Hi,

I purchased Minecraft back in the 2009-2010 era. I know "recently" I've been asked to migrate to a Microsoft account. I am still logged into my Mojang account. On the Desktop launcher, I am able to see both my Microsoft account and my Mojang account. I'm unable to access my Mojang account anymore, and when accessing the Microsoft account, it shows me as not owning the game (i.e. "Play the Demo"). However, it also says above the "Play Demo" button,

    > Switch to <Mojang account> to play the full version of Minecraft: Java Edition. Change account

How can I regain access to play Minecraft again?

    :)

How do I change my minecraft account and username data to a different microsoft account?

Hi Uso. My name is Kyle and I'm an independent advisor.

Once a Minecraft account is migrated to a Microsoft account, it is permanently associated with that account. Unfortunately, you can't change this after migrating.

To clarify, you are having issues accessing Minecraft on the account you migrated it to?

Hi Nicholas I'd love to help.

As you were being told in the launcher, what happens when you switch your account?

Please note that the access for Minecraft Java isn't shareable, only Windows version can be shared.

I can't access Minecraft after the migration?

Based on what I've read and seen so far, first, after loading the launcher again a couple hours later, I am no longer logged into either account. I can login to the Mojang account where it immediately logs me out and tells me

    > You were logged out because the active Mojang account needs to migrate to a Microsoft account to continue playing.

Following the Get started link for the migration on the launcher, I am able to login to both accounts (with the Mojang account requiring some old secret question answers which I remember as well). However, the migration process requires that I validate my email address by sending a code before the migration can succeed. I know the email address, it no longer exists (an ISP I am no longer with). I do not have a copy of the original order from over thirteen years ago. I do not have access to credit card statements from over thirteen years ago.

In essence, what I do have are my own credentials to login, secret question answers, knowledge of the email associated with the account, and a rough estimate of when it was purchased (prior to June 2011, likely around mid to late 2010 or early 2011). From what I can see in FAQs and help material, this is insufficient and my copy of Minecraft is lost to the ether.

I appreciate the response, however, the challenge with that form is:

    > Your Email Address*

    > Please use the email address associated with your Minecraft account. This is the email address we will be writing to, so please make sure you provide us with an email address you have access to.

Ultimately, because I do not have access to the original email account any longer, I don't have reasonable avenues to recover my account. I am absolutely at fault for not having access to the email any longer, however, the forced migration and its failure doesn't rest on my shoulders. Just a poor customer experience is all.

I appreciate your time and effort, have a good day.

Sorry to hear about that, however, kindly note that once you've migrated your Mojang account, there's no way to migrate it to a different Microsoft account.

But since you are unable to get the code, that means it was not fully migrated and in this case, you would need the help of the game developers in order to completely migrate your account You can reach out to them by filling out the submit request here: https://help.minecraft.net/hc/en-us/requests/ne...
