I cannot verify my new Microsoft account Alias

I want to add an alias to my account but I cannot because I have a this warning: "For security reasons, you need to verify your primary alias before you can add another alias." How can I add an alias if I cannot verify my primary address? I no longer have
access to my primary email address as it no longer exists.

I am trying to add an alias email to my microsoft account. When I click the "verify" button it sends the new alias email a message. However, when I click the verify link it takes me to the microsoft login page, after I login it takes be to a "basic account
information" page but it never Verifies the new alias email on my original account page.

Follow the steps on this page to change the Microsoft account email address or phone number (also known as account alias or username) that you use to sign in.
Worried about your licenses? Don't worry—if you change your account alias or remove an alias and add a new one, all licenses linked to your Microsoft account will remain with your account. Log into your account using your existing alias and password.
Login to your account
Access Your Information at the top of the page.
Select Manage how you sign in to Microsoft.
You may be asked to verify your account before making changes. Follow the instructions provided to select your alias:
Select Add email. You can create a new Outlook.com email address or add an address you already have. Then select Add Alias. After returning to the previous screen, select Verify and follow the instructions provided.
Or select Add phone number. Enter the phone number you want to use and select Next. When you've added a new phone number, we'll send an SMS to that number to verify it. Enter the code in the SMS and select Next.
Note Email addresses and phone numbers that are already aliased to another account cannot be used. It may take up to 48 hours for the change to be implemented across all Microsoft services.

if you created a new microsoft email then that is basically a new microsoft account. you cannot transfer anything.

The Xbox account IS the Microsoft account IS the email address, they are one in the same.

you can create a new alias on the original account then make it primary then after a week or so remove the old email alias, just make sure to update any sites you need to keep with the new email alias.
