I cannot play Live with Gold games without an active subscription now?

By subscribing to the Game Pass Ultimate with Live Gold active you are informed that your subscription will be converted and a conversion fee will apply.

Even without a subscription it is possible to play a game you have purchased, you just cannot play paid games online.

Free games like Fortnite, Warzone and Apex Legends no longer need an active subscription to play online.

check on https://account.microsoft.com/ if your gold Subscription is active..without it you cannot play fortnite neither cod warzone.

The games that you have mentioned that you can play without an Xbox Live Gold subscription are free-to-play games which means that they do not require an active subscription.

For games that aren't free-to-play, it is required to have an active Xbox Live Gold subscription.

All your cloud saved games (and saved progress) will remain linked to your account even if you don't have an active xbox live gold subscription. If you redeemed some of the Xbox One "games with gold" you can't play them without the gold subscription but
you will be able to play them if you will re-activate your gold subscription in the future.
