I cannot play GTA Online with Gamepass.

Greetings. I have recently bought the gamepass on an Xbox one but cannot play GTA online. I confronted the issue with Rockstar Games but they told me that it was in issue to solve with Microsoft after the troubleshoot did not resolve the issue. I have restarted the Console many times, as well as the game. I have even created a new account and bought Gamepass on there but it claims that I do not have permission to play GTA Online. *Please note that this is a reoccurring issue, it has previously been happening before the rage occurring on the 31st of may.

Do you have standard Game Pass or Game Pass Ultimate? You need Gold to play online. Standard Game Pass does not include Gold.

Gamepass is not available for the Xbox 360, also GTA V is available for Gamepass on Xbox one.

In order to play GTA 5 via gamepass you will need gamepass on an xbox one console.

I believe that GTA V will be replaced with Red Dead Redemption 2 on the 7th May.

Hello.

If your son owns a copy of the game and just wants to play online multiplayer, all he needs is Xbox Live.

If your son downloaded GTA V when it was in GamePass, he would need GamePass and Xbox Live to 1) Have access to the game and 2) Play online multiplayer.

Unfortunately, GTA V is no longer in GamePass.

If he is subscribed to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate $14.99 he should be fine as it comes with

Xbox Game Pass Console
Xbox Game Pass PC
Xbox Live

You should be able to play GTA V offline in its story mode. You cannot, however, play GTA Online (the multiplayer game mode) offline without the internet. The closest you would be able to get to that would be by placing yourself in a private GTA Online
lobby by yourself. All online interactions require internet to function, hence the name of the multiplayer game mode.

I would recommend phantasy star online 2 once it is officially released this spring but untill then you got plenty of games on gamepass you could play such as gta 5 to still have a shooter open world experience
