    Please tell me, is this E: drive already formatted as NTFS?
    Please double check this opening file explorer > my computer > right click on the E: drive > properties > next to file system

    If everything looks good there, may I know if you already have selected this drive as where new apps are going to be installed?

    Go to Windows settings > system > storage > advance storage options (this only if you’re on Windows 11) > where new content is saved
    Under apps select this new partition / drive

    Restart the PC and check if now you’re able to install games

    you need to set the default install here option to the official ssd. so then anything installed from the store or remotely goes direct to the default storage location.

    Did you set your default install location to the E drive? If you didn't, please do:

    Open the Xbox App.

    Click on your Profile picture > Select Settings.

    In the Xbox Settings, go to General Section > Game install options.

    Click on the drop-down and change it to the E drive.

    Also try changing the default location for new apps in Windows to your external SSD and then try installing the game again.

    Go to Start (Windows Start) -> Settings -> System -> Storage -> Change where new content is saved (under 'More Storage Settings'). Change the setting "New Apps will install to:" to the drive you want to use.

    Try it and let me know if it can be installed on your E drive.

    If Xbox App still doesn't let you install your games on your external SSD, please let me know and we can proceed to further troubleshooting.
