Well yeah, Costa Rica is not an XBL region... But Microsoft has two main offices here (and I've gotten job offers to work physically there as developer, go figure), so what gives? I find it baffling and insulting, to be honest. It exists for business but not for gamers, go figure. Plus, we're in 2021, the world is not just USA or part of EU. I would accept that response 1-5 years after launch... but 10+? Really? The PS3 is from almost the same console generation and buying games there is 10 times easier. I can't believe I spent two days on this just to buy a game... In UX, Sony seems to have the upper hand here.

Well, for future readers, if you get this error message try buying the games from the console. Add a payment method in your Microsoft account and use it on the console's store. It worked for me, seems that the website is broken.

Physical games is a bad option TBH, the DVDs get scratched and MS doesn't seem to have a backup plan when the console reaches its end-of-life to allow reading backups or something (Plus, this requires you to insert the disc every time. Also, disc readers also fail), Backwards compatibility in another console through a VM (plus, a smaller catalog than the original) is not exactly preserving that part of history - like MS would care, it seems.

I would have expected a better response or a workaround (like the one I did last night - buying the game from the console itself) from an "XBox Ambassador" or even a friendlier response than just "No, can't be done, you're SOL". It's sad how MS's staff has fallen so low.

This whole region lock in account/store/console/game is BS.
Not being able to change your MS account country is BS.

Payment method region lock is also BS.

Then you see the MS guys complaining about piracy and sending lawsuits about modchips... Well, if it were easier to buy games, we wouldn't have to resort to that. I have a virgin PS3, unmodded, with lots of games in there... Why? Because buying them is easy as heck, no region-lock BS. Sony does want my money, MS seems like it doesn't even care.

That's because Costa Rica IS not an xbox live region

Also xbox 360 content is mostly region locked

Your only option is physical games

What is you Account Region? You try to buy from console or on xbox web page on PC?

My account region is New York. I was always able to buy games normally from Live on my xbox 360. However, only this game is giving error!

You could always buy from the web store front for th e xbox one except for last week

I'm just trying to buy some stuff from their "Add-Ons" sale. I've noticed that clicking on most any of the links in the store causes an error for me (well, the add-ons stuff, especially when I try to buy some Xbox 360 stuff) and Overcooked deal, for instance).
