    i can play online in Modern Warfare an Forza Horizon 4, my gold membership is valid it was only renewed a month ago ive tried power cycling the xbox and also removing my account then signing back in again but neither worked,

    I think you might be gamesharing with someone with Xbox Live Ultimate which makes it so you can play without an active gold membership.

    Xbox Live Gold for Family Members on 360

    They used to offer a family plan. Unfortunately on the 360 you will need an active gold membership for every account that wants to participate in online gaming. The XBOX one eliminates this need as the main account only needs an active gold membership. Then
    anyone assigned on your console can enjoy anything you have purchased and can play online.

    As you appear not being on a gold membership here at the moment, this clearly is the reason as you need an active gold membership to play online multiplayer games.
