I can not verify the authentication of my account because I lost my cell phone number

Couple questions:

What exactly are you trying to do?

Do you know your current password and your trying to sign into your account on a new device and its wanting to verify ownership of the account?

What exactly are you trying to do that its wanting to verify ownership of your account?

I DO NOT want to know what they are just if you know them.

Do you know your current password or have you forgotten it and are trying to recover it?

Do you have access to at least one of the verification methods?

Now if you have access to the current password and one of the security proofs it is possible to change the security proof that you do not have access to.

Keep in mind that doing this will lock you out of your account for 30 days till the new security proof change takes affect and this will only work if you have access to one of the security proofs.

1. Sign into the account at account.live.com/addassocid ( you are only signing into this page to trigger the request for ownership verification) this will bring up the box wanting to send a code to your security proofs.

2. send code to the one security proof that you currently have access to and type in where it asks for it.

3. next box will want to send another security proof out to the other security proof that you do not have access to and should give you a choice that you dont have access to any of these. (choose that option)

4. this should then give you a chance to change that security proof to a new number or another email. (again this will trigger a 30 day hold on your account till that security proof change takes affect)

It's a personal account. I lost my cell phone in November of last year and opted not to buy a new one because I have a work cell phone with the job I have now. To save costs, I let my old number go. We'll my old cell phone had my authenticator and my Gmail account as well as my Microsoft account was tied to both. The account I don't have access to is *****@gmail.com which is what I have my Microsoft ultimate subscription tied to. My old cell number is 6********. My new Gmail account is ********@gmail.com and cell phone is 6********. My dob is ******. My name and address is ****** . I can provide my drivers license, credit card, gamertag, as well as Xbox serial number, screens hots, etc. I'm a it engineer that is a Microsoft partner.

It most certainly does not work. Because as soon as i put in my password to log in. It wants to verify my account on my previous cell phone number.

I have to get inside my account to change my number which at the moment it isn't allowing me.

I don't work for Microsoft and I don't work for Xbox, but I believe that the way to verify by SMS through a cell phone is more effective.

I say this because nowadays most people have a cell phone, and Microsoft Rewards allows you to redeem your reward using any cell phone number, as long as you have access to it.

I agree with you, there should be an option for those who already have an authenticator app, but unfortunately they still don't, who knows in the future.
