I can not type with my controller or my keyboard

Discus and support I can not type with my controller or my keyboard in XboX Insiders to solve the problem; I am trying to search for a game and when I go to type nothing happens.     How do i remove the on-screen popup keyboard for xbox? would really help to have it off when typing with a keyboard and mouse

    What works for me sometimes is hitting B on my controller. When I want to type and the on-screen keyboard shows up, I tap B on my controller and that removes it allowing me to type with my attached keyboard.

    Xbox one chatpad.

    Smartglass and USB keyboards for chatting and web browsing is utterly stupid. There is no sound reason anyone can give on why i should put down my controller to type when i use my controller for everything else? Isnt the Xbox One motto "quick, easy, instant"
    so....WHERES MY CHATPAD?!

    I dont have that chatpad keyboard. Can I just plug in my USB keyboard into the USB slot on the back? Will that work for typing?

    Not really no, for instance you can play warframe with a mouse and keyboard or you can play with a controller, it's just a matter of preference. Also, a lot of people would like to type messages with a keyboard or in a specific instance (like Minecraft's
    "Book an Quill") type chapters or stories WITHOUT using a controller.

    Xbox app freezing when trying to use remote keyboard

    I open the xbox app on my iphone or ipad, hit the button to the left of the notifications, it shows my console is on and which one it is connected to, I select "open remote control," hit the keyboard function on the bottom left, type anything in (I literally typed "Test" in the box,) hit the return button and it minimizes but text box still appears and the text box on my xbox is not populated with what I type, and when I hit the 'X' to close the the keyboard and text box, the app freezes
