I bought three games in the store via pay pal xbox one, one was 4 premium battlefield, just dance 2014 plants vs zombies, the problem is I can not play them because it tells me that I do not own the games.

Unable to play games downloaded to xbox

My brother and I share an xbox, and lately he has been downloading games because he's not old enough to buy them from the store. When I log into my profile and try to play them, it tells me the game could not launch. Is this Microsoft being Microsoft and
not allowing it, or is there something I can do to be able to play the games on my xbox that we have payed for?

Since it's a digital game the game save is already saved on your cloud storage. Did you try deleting and reinstalling it? Though there are other problems also, it could be that the DRM to the game is corrupted. Though reinstalling the game should solve these.
Does the game say "Install" when you go to the Xbox Live Marketplace?

You bought the games but did you install them? You will need to install them in order for them to play. You can either head back to the store and find the games to install them or go to My Games & Apps and scroll all the way to the right. They will be
listed in the Ready to Install category.

Sorry to hear about your issue with your game. Just to confirm, you played the game before as part of "game with gold" or you've already purchase the game? If you're playing it as games with gold, please make sure you have an active Xbox live or Xbox game pass Ultimate to play the game.

If the game is installed on an external, then I don't think there should be a problem playing them on another PC if you're also signed in for authentication purposes.

then you thought wrong. because the geniuses at M$ wont let me do that. i cant even point to the windows app directory (on an external hdd) without them telling me i have to erase 100s of gigabytes of data, because the info came from another computer i "own,"
and redownload something i already spent hours doing.

this is basic stuff. Steam can figure this out but MICROSOFT cant?!? **** are yall doing? and why would they lock me out of accessing my own files? just goofy AF. apple level stupid.

Thank you for the response, but correct me if I am wrong. That should only affect online multiplayer options? I do not play online everything is local, and have never had this issue before while not having gold. Something odd I found was if I go to the Microsoft store it displays that I own the game, but it is not installed. If it is not installed, then what is installed?

I'm just taking a wild guess here, so apologies if I'm wrong, I think the problem is that you need XBox Gold to play multiplayer games (some single player games that have a MP aspect require it too), if you get Game Pass Ultimate you get the added bonus of getting Gold at the same time as access to the Game Pass catalogue (regular Game Pass doesn't give Gold access)
