I can not change the battltag for free.

I can not change the battltag for free.
The system believes that there has already been a replacement.
I received an ugly battltag at registration and can not change it now.
Maybe I'm doing something wrong, or I forgot how I changed the battltag,
although if I changed it I probably would have chosen better than now.

Free gamertag change question

Is there a way to tell whether or not I chose to change the random gamertag when I first made this account?(like email and ect)

I don't remember if I did or not since it's been 6 years, I don't think I did though, which is why i'm wondering in case I can still change the gamertag for free, on the page where I change my gamertag it has "You can change it once for free." in bold,
don't know if that means anything or not, but it doesn't say I cannot change it for free anymore.

Hi there, if you're not able to use a free gamertag change, that means the system recognizes that your account:

a): already used a one-time free gamertag change

and/or

b): you didn't choose an auto-generated gamertag upon account sign-up.

In this case, we're afraid you'd have to pay for a gamertag change.

Sadly, that won't be possible.

According to the new Gamer Tag FAQ, this was done to secure the digits for the suffix if needed:

"We require at least 3 characters to auto-assign you a suffix and make sure that everybody has an equal chance to have a name they can be proud of.

Many older games allowed 16 characters for displaying gamertags.

We reserve three of those characters for the suffix and one for the # symbol, leaving 12 characters for Gamertags."
