I bought £50 gift cards from these sites for £40.84 with the 5% off codes for liking them on Facebook:

Enter the codes, buy from the MS online store for £45 each. Works out at £36.75 when you do the maths.

promotional offeris not valid for existing members so having a Xbox Live Gold subscription active would not allow you to purchase the three months of Gold for the price of one.

The
exclusive online deal expires April 9 so if your Gold subscription is not renewed manually by you or automatically by the system before that date, you may want to try purchasing the offer again.

Be aware that promotional codes expire. Some dubious stores sometimes go to a promotional Xbox event and get free codes, and then sell these. Promotional codes do have an expiry date, and it should be printed on the code card, or on a leaflet that came with
the card.

Codes you buy in a regular store should not expire.

So please complain again at the store where you bought the codes from. You made a purchase contract with the store, not Microsoft directly. Therefore the store is responsible for getting you a working code.

Unfortunately "child" accounts cannot purchase anything on XBOX Live. You would need to wait until the age of 18 and that is when you can promote your child account to an adult account. You will then be able to purchase with a credit/debit card over XBOX
Live. Until then you'd have to purchase subscription cards and points cards for the things that you'd like to buy from retail stores.
