I can hear sound but my mic won't work, what should I do?

Ok so you looked at youtube, what have you tried?

I'm going to assume you checked that the mic is not physically muted by a button. I will also assume you have the problem whether in a party chat or game chat. I will also assume you didn't receive a communication suspension because it would have told you, and you wouldn't be asking.

Let me know if one of those assumptions is incorrect.

Did you know it could also be muted through settings? (I think its in the same place you adjust voice/game volume, or if your in a party I think you can click your name)

It could also be deeper in your privacy settings. If you have another mic you could test that would completely rule out the possibility that its your settings. (assuming the other mic works)

Also if you haven't already, try updating the controller while the headset is connected to it.

Go try it, do your best to troubleshoot it. If it is still not working, come back. Let people know what you've tried. And anything that might be useful.

For example, another mic functioning fine would be a good thing for anyone helping you to know.

Also another try it with another controller.

If you have a housemate you with an account you can ask them to try your headset on their account. (completely unnecessary if you already confirmed a different mic worked)

My headset doesn't have a mute button

I am having the exact same issue, my mic is being recognized but won't transmit sound. Out of curiosity do you have a kinect? Also my xbox is the original white xbox one. I can hear party voice and in game voice, but my mic picks up nothing. The companion
app prior to streaming picks up my mic when active. I've seen complaints going back 4+ years for this issue and I haven't seen a single working fix other that messing with what apps are allowed to use the mic, which I verified is set up correctly for me.

Mine is possessed game sound works fine mic works but I can't hear chat, other times can hear chat but mic doesn't work. Very frustrating.

im having a problem that i can talk to my friends and they can hear me but i cant hear them..... my mute button works but my sound ones dont... since this new update (16th feb ) my mic hasnt worked
