I bought Minecraft and updated the launcher, now It's making me buy it again

So I bought Minecraft years ago in 2014 I want to say? I log into my launcher today and it asks for me to update the launcher because the game was incompatible with my launcher. I do this and get the new launcher, however it is now making me re-buy the entire game despite me having had migrated my account to Microsoft.

Does anyone know how to help? I'm extremely upset and cannot afford to re-buy the game.

Originally it was under my moms email, though at some point before the whole Microsoft stuff I changed it to my own email. Did this mess things up somehow? It seems unfair that I would have to re-buy something I've had for near a decade.

If you see that Minecraft is listed on your billing history then there is no need to purchase it again and you may need to get in touch with Mojang support to raise the issue. Please use this link to submit a ticket.

I hit buy now and it is making me buy the game. It also says in the bottom left that it cannot connect to minecraft services on the launcher.

I have tried all of those steps - no updates are available and my Windows OS is up to date.

I have also tried uninstalling the Minecraft Launcher and reinstalling, and uninstalling and reinstalling Minecraft.

I have also tried logging out of the Xbox app and the launcher and logging in again.

All other Xbox purchases and games work, the Minecraft Launcher will let me play the Java version of MC and Minecraft Dungeons but not Minecraft for Windows at all. Same error with it wanting me to sign in but I can't sign in it just takes me to the page to buy MC for Windows which I can't rebuy even if I want to because I have already bought it...

I just redownloaded Minecraft and when I did the game said "buy trial" even though I've already bought and downloaded the game. Well, at least it's not saying "incompatible with launcher" anymore, yet still it asks me to buy the game again.

I just tried logging in just now again. The Minecraft launcher got an update, and after it was done updating, it seems to have resolved itself. It's no longer "play demo" for me. And I can see my skin in the skin tab too. I ran the game and I can join multiplayer again. Try it again and see if it's working? The launcher should update itself automatically when you run it.
