    GTA Online is simply the name for GTA V Multi-player. You still need at minimum an Xbox Live subscription to be able to play online with the exception of free to play games. This is also something that is mentioned prior to purchase

    the version you bought is GTA online, meaning the online side of GTA and not the campaign/story mode.

    You need Gold (or Game Pass Ultimate which includes Gold) in order to play online.

    Yes. Xbox requires Gold to play online in any game with the exception of free-to-play games.
