I bought an Xbox gift card and it doesn't work.

I purchased a $50 Xbox gift card from Coles earlier on today. I tried buying a game with it and after entering the code I got a messsge saying
"Code not found. Try re-entering it. If that does not work, please contact the merchant". I looked over the code and re entered it a dozen or more times amd kept getting the same message.

Is it possible that the cashier didnt activate it?

If you have the receipt, it should indicate that the gift card was activated or not.

It can take a few hours for a code to become valid. But the only other thing you can do as said is , take it back to were you got it from and speak to them . 👍

Might be worth checking the XBL service status page for your country. Sometimes there are issues with the store. Otherwise, it might just be related to the current heavy loads on the servers in which case patience is the best solution.
Or just check and check again you're entering the code correctly. We've all missed out or wrongly-entered a character when entering a code on the store once or twice, I reckon.
