I bought a xbox live gold supscription, but it is not updated on my xbox

Sorry to hear about that, however, first you need to ensure that you bought the subscription under his account by going to https://account.microsoft.com/sevices

If it's active, you can try re-syncing your child's account into the console. Ensure that you know your child's Microsoft account and password before doing so and your console is connected to the internet.

-Press the Xbox button on your controller to open the guide.

-Profile & System > Settings > Account > Remove account

-Select the account that you want to remove, and then select "Remove" to confirm.

-Once done, select Close.

Then, you can restart your console > long-press Xbox button on the controller > Restart

Lastly, sign in to your child's account again by:

-Press the Xbox button to open the guide.

-Go to Sign in > Add new

If it's not showing under his account, try checking your other accounts if the subscription is active and if it's made under your own account. You need to set his console as your home by signing in to his console using your own account > Go to Settings > General > Personalization > My home Xbox and set it as home.

Are you sure you have the Xbox Live Gold supscription active ?

as I know, your supscription will be converted to ONE Monthly "ultimate supscription". But better you read

"The FAQ for ultimate supscription" (and you better fill up your Gold to the max of 35 month !! before you convert to ultimate) ;-)

I checked on my console and there it also says that Xbox Live Gold expires 7/21/2020 and that the last charge was 6/22/2020. All other possible supscriptions are listed under "Canceled" and all expired.

Just to be safe I now try to contact the Xbox Support like you suggested.

In order to save your games you need to be conected to internet. No need the Gold Supscription for that...
