    I am unable to play at 1440p 120hz on my serise S console


    I've been trying to use my Xbox Serise S full potential but I'm unable to use it. My console will let me run at 1440p 60hz,1080p 120hz and 720p 120hz ect. My issue is my monitor can run 1440p 144hz and the monitor and modle is Scepter (E325B-QPN168). It would be kind if I can find out the reason why and how it's not letting me use my console at max performance.

    My issue is my monitor can run 1440p 144hz
    This resolution and refresh would be locked to the Display Port. It does not mean you are guaranteed to get 120Hz @ 1440P via the HDMI port.

    The issue here is one of exact refresh timings. Generally speaking, 120Hz isn't exactly 120Hz, more like 119.98Hz. If your display's refresh rate is 119.88Hz @ 1440P then it's probably not compatible. PC graphics hardware don't have fixed refresh rates like consoles, so it's not a problem for them. On older monitors like this one, HDMI is a bit of afterthought, it wasn't included with consoles in mind.

    I'm afraid there isn't a fix for this issue. If you want 120Hz you'll need to run the display at 1080P.

    Hi _wojdazeg_,

    The xbox One S will connect to a 1440p /120hz monitor. However bare in mind that most games on the Xbox are capped to between 30 & 60hz.

    Also your monitor would have to support 120hz/1440p over HDMI as the console does not have a displayport connector.

    You will need the Xbox Series X for 4K 120hz. The Series S can only do 1440p 120hz
