I am trying to use my Kesu 3.0 usb HDD, why does it disconnect all the time?

The issue can be your console, or your external hard drive. Kindly perform a powercycle on your console by following the steps below:

1. Turn off your console by holding the Xbox button on the front of the console for approximately 10 seconds. The console will turn off. ​​​

2. Turn your console back on by pressing the Xbox button on the console or the Xbox button on your controller. ​​​

If you can try another hard drive that would be great as well to test.

I had this happening to numerous times already.

It looks like Xbox One system software needs to improve on USB 3.0 HDD support.

Powering down and up does not help me.

The USB 3.0 HDD works fine with Macs and PCs but Xbone just keep loosing the USB 3.0 link.

If you have a PC or MAC it maybe worth it to get Minitool or Paragon disk tools (free) and then plug the USB 3.0 HDD on it. Run Minitool or Paragon and you should see the whole Xbox One partition as unallocated or other in filesystem. If so then more than
likely the drive is fine.

Depending your USB 3.0 HDD brand try to go and search for firmware updates on the USB 3.0 HDD.

I would do a sector by sector backup of the USB 3.0 drive first to somewhere accessible on another HDD.

Hopefully the USB 3.0 HDD has a firmware update so update it.

Normally HDD firmware updates leave all data intact but there is risk.

After all plug the USB 3.0 back on Xbone and see if it works.

For me a backup is safer just in case.

I am having similiar issues with USB 3.0 HDD support from Xbone.

The system software (i.e. latest May 2015 update) still does not resolve the

constant not able to move games or apps to it although it formattted fine with Xbone.

Macs and PCs work fine with the USB 3.0 HDD.

Anyways, lots of DRM issues from my experience.

I am running a 2tb and 4tb seagate hdds through an unpowered usb hub (all usb 3.0) and encounter no issues. A lot of the time issues are caused by people using power surge protected plug boards, which conflict with the built insurge protection.
