I am trying to register new Xbox controller for Xbox s . Microsoft is not recognizing this...

May I ask what is happening or error message when you are trying to register your xbox controller? Also, are you referring in registering the controller via https://account.microsoft.com/devices page?

Things to keep in mind:

1. Controller serial numbers are 14 characters long and don’t include dashes.

2. Your controller serial number may not be recognized if you’ve never connected your controller, or if you connected for the first time within the last 48 hours.

3. If you have the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2, the 14-character serial number is in the lower center on the back of the controller.

DS3 is Dark Souls 3, I am playing it through steam and no it had the issue the moment I connected it to my pc. I am unable to use the Xbox Accessories App to update my controller because it does not recognize a controller being connected. When I look in my device manager the controller is labeled "HID-compliant game controller" I am able to deactivate it and it deactivates my controller. But it seems that Xbox Accessories doesn't register my controller properly even if my computer does. I am also unable to use my Xbox Elite 2 controller with steam but it works with other games. I've already updated both controllers using my Xbox One S.

I'm having the same problem, and am trying to see if Microsoft can replace my controller, but it's requiring me to register my Xbox One. I don't have an Xbox One. I bought this controller for PC games.

Is there another way to get a replacement other than simply buying a new one?

For some reason, I was able to register my Series 2 under my Microsoft account when I bought it. I can go in a request a replacement from there, but not through the Xbox support site where it tells me the serial number doesn't exist.

Try logging into your Microsoft account at account.microsoft.com , register your controller under devices if you haven't, and hope it recognizes you have the extended warranty when you request a replacement

I'm having the same exact problem as BraydenB1.

Xbox One S. New controller and headset, both purchased recently from the MSFT store. Headset is not recognized when plugged into controller and the mute symbol stays on in upper right corner of screen, no matter what I try.

Why am I unable to select the volume setting in the controller settings? What does that suggest might be broken in the settings somewhere?

There's got to be a setting somewhere to turn headset and mic on. Where??
