Please read the steps below to fix this issue

Assigning an account to your controller:

- Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
- Select Profile & system > Settings > Devices & connections > Accessories.
- Select the controller, and then the More options icon (…). Assigned to shows the current account assigned to that controller.
- To assign the controller to another account, select Assigned to, and then select the account that you want assigned to the controller. This will pair the controller to this account.

I've tried pluging it into a USB, that is currently the only way I am able to use the controller, there is no automatic update or message of any kind that appears when I do so either while trying to pair it or not, it is as if the Bluetooth transceiver in the Xbox burnt itself out because when I hold down the pairing button on the console the indicator light does nothing regardless of button use(double tap, press and release, or hold)

I've now manually updated the controller and it still doesn't pair to the console. I need to know if I need to take this thing back or what?

I am using a Xbox One and I am using my controller wirelessly and also since the last day and I trying pairing it to the console but It will not connect thats why i need help.

Joe, I have solved this issue. Go here: https://apps.microsoft.com/store/detail/xbox-accessories/9NBLGGH30XJ3 and download XBOX accessories app. Then with a USB type C, which is what I use for my Samsung phone, connect your controller to your PC/laptop and open the app. The app will notify you that you need to update your controller. After the update I deleted all pairings between the controller and TV and started a new pair. At first the TV would recognize the controllers and give the message "need pairing" but the TV wouldn’t pair the controller. I did a hard reboot on the controller and a reboot of the TV and paired again and voil there was the controller paired to XBOX. I hope this works for you

I am afraid that your controller is already faulty and needs replacement. Be sure to follow all the suggested troubleshooting steps from the link below:

To further isolate the issue, try pairing your controller to a different device or try pairing a different controller to your Xbox console.

Other thing to try is to connect your controller using a USB cable. Be sure to try multiple USB cables if one cable wouldn't work.
