I am told I have a Windows issue, unable to log on to Microsoft store & Xbox

Thank you for your help. Unfortunately the first solution did not work the second one I am unable to follow because I uninstalled my microsoft store and have been unable to re-install it. I have tried everything bar a completely new installation of windows
10 for the store issue.

I am using Windows 10 computer, no error message. I am unable to utilize the Microsoft Store through the Microsoft website.

This didnt help. I think the issue is with the microsoft store itself. I am now unable to open it, or any other microsoft app, despite doing a reinstall of windows (deleting apps, but keeping my files)

Hi, I have just got a windows 8.1 laptop for christmas and I am having exactly the same problem. Im logged into windowsusing my xbox live id which is all logging in ok and shows all my friends etc.. But when I download a game via the windows games store
and run the game it will say it requires permission to access my xbox live info. Click yes and im told unable to connect to xbox live please check connection. My connection is fine and my laptop is already logged into xbox live. This obviously renders leaderboards
and achievments useless on windows games. Ive tried switching all the firewall etc off but it made no difference. I honestly dont think microsoft really know what they are doing anymore so im not even asking for a fix as I dont think they can fix it. Id heard
a thousand horror stories about windows 8 but I was still not prepared for the grim reality.

I have 3 computers I used to test this issue. My main computer quickly showed grey box and then back to regular screen. After downloading some other xbox related apps in the Microsoft store, I discovered it was related to my computer using a local account
and the fact I never logged into the Microsoft Store. I refuse to do this on this computer so I tried a different computer. That computer didn't have the May 2019 update and it specifically told me I couldn't configure it until I did that. I then went to
my new laptop and tried it. This computer also uses a local account, and has never used the Microsoft store before. I downloaded the app without logging in (I cancel the two sign in attempts and it still downloads and installs fine). When I opened the app,
it had showed the controller properly and when I hit configure I discovered that the grey box is the REQUIRED xbox live sign-in. You can not configure the controller without being signed into your xbox live Microsoft account. For some reason my main PC is
unable to figure out I am not signed in properly and just crashes. For the new laptop, I logged into my Microsoft account but selected to only use it for the Store apps, not my general windows login. I was finally able to configure the stupid controller.
