I am not allowed to remove a credit card which is expired, and add a valid one

I have a yearly subscription on Xbox Live Gold. In May, the registered card expired, and today I could not play my online game due to failed payment. However, when trying to correct this:

1. I cannot remove the expired card. I get the error message: "We cannot remove Visa ****** right now. Contact Answer Desk"

2. I cannot add another way to pay. Error message no matter which alternative I choose. "Try again. Something happened on our side. Wait, and try again, to see if this solves the problem."

3. It is impossible to pay for a new subscription, because the other one is "still active", and needs to be payed.

So, I am in a way banned. Which mastermind designed this clever system? (rhetorical question)

My question is: what do I do to fix this?

Xbox Live Gold Purchase Error

Does this also come with a "Cannot retrieve information from XBOX Live"? If that's so I believe this error you are encountering is due to having an expired credit card at one point on your account. You can try to remove the credit card (if for some reason
that doesn't work) please contact XBOX Support for your region and speak with the Billing Department.

Have them first remove that credit card from the account (if it's expired) and then have them add a new credit card and try to add your subscription to your account.

One thing to note when trying to remove a credit card from your account, is that you must have a valid form of payment on your account at all times. Therefore, if you wish to remove your current credit card, you must add a new one first.

What is the exact error you are seeing? Let us know, and we can move forward from there.

 

Your best solution is calling
Xbox Live Support directly and speaking with an agent. They should be able to help remove the old payment method. Then, you can clear up any potential payment problems caused by the expired card and add your new method.

 

Are you trying to do this throught the xbox? If so there is always an issue because of the nature of the cards. Your best bet is to sign in on a computer and add the new card frist set as primary and the delete the old card from the account. I have had
this issue in the past and worked it out. If it still wont . Go into settings and delete cookies and then allow them for the microsoft website

Past Due Balance webpage hopefully this will allow you to clear any balance owed and then add a new payment card to your account.

 

Thanks, have tried that several times. Tried it one more time now. Same problem.

 

Tried first on the xbox. The last 15 tries have been on the computer. But thanks for the answer.

Have you also tried to pay the past any past due balance and changing your registered car using a different internet browser just in case this is part of the problem?
