Either he uses the driver update.assuming he's not on a laptop he can use the nvidia or amd update tool

If he on a laptop he has to use the manufacturers tool

If that don't work then his gpu is too old as the troubleshooting steps .mentiomed typically recent cards won't have that issue it's the older.or discount cards that may run into this problem

Shader model is a shade processor on your gpu card

Usually a gpu has 13 or more shaders

Sounds like you need a newer card

For.games like flight SIM you need a recent gpu

Also some low end cards lack the necessary amount of shades or just don't have them

You are best bet get a mid range card

So avoid low numbers on the last two digits

It's best to research your cards

Like 1360 is a bit low

Gt or gtx are pretty good on nvidia just watch the model.numbers

Please what out for quadro or pro cards like Radeon as they aren't meant for gaming

A minimum of 6 shadders is usually needed a 970 is a decent card higher is better but still watch out for budget cards

300-400 bucks is a decent price avoid 100-200 dollar range

Shader Model 3.0 was around for the Nvidia 9 Series. It's really old for it's time. You get 4.0 completely easy. The 5.0 shaders came on the generation before the latest one.
