How to use X-Mouse with Humankind - Permissions problem

So here we go again. Every time you try to use a MS game it's a pain start to finish. This is why I will never buy a game through Game Pass but it would sure be nice if I could use GP since I'm already paying for it. Something I won't be doing for long if this isn't fixed pretty soon.

The problem that just won't go away. Trying to use X-Mouse Button Control with Humankind which is installed in C:\XboxGames\Humankind folder. When trying to select C:\XboxGames\Humankind\Content\Humankind.exe while configuring X-Mouse profile of course I get a permissions error. Something I never get through either Steam or GOG.

I know I'll be asked so the error window shows...

I will also likely be requested to provide a reason why I would like to access my personal property so I'll answer that up front. I play on a 4k tv screen and many of the fonts are too small to read and this is compounded by some of them being light blue on a slightly less light blue background. Assigning the forward/back mouse buttons to increase/decrease windows magnifier is helpful in other games with similar issues and would likely be helpful here as well.

So here I am, asking my overlord MS for permission to access a file on my own bought and paid for drive. Would you please be so kind as to grant my lowly pathetic self permission to use my property? I do hope that is enough groveling but let me know if I need to fully prostrate myself and any sacrifices I may need to perform to the MS Gods to gain their divine approval.

I am not a system administrator. This is not something I do daily or have any training on so if someone over there in MS heaven does decide to help, speaking in layman's terms would probably be helpful. Please remember I am a lowly and pathetic customer deserving of nothing but abuse so you're encouraged to throw in a little of that as well.

I'll read any responses as soon as I'm done with my self-flagellation.

I'm sorry to hear that you are having trouble using X-Mouse Button Control with Humankind.

X-Mouse Button Control (XMBC) allows you to create application and window specific profiles. This in turn, allows you to re-configure your mouse behaviour for individual applications or windows.

Many games are using anti-cheat systems to block programs such as X-Mouse Button Control and also state in their terms and conditions that you may not run macros. Analog keys are essentially just that. That's why this problem occurs.

I appreciate you trying to help but I've been using X-Mouse Button Control for a long time. After a quick search X-Mouse seems to be a program designed to simulate mouse input with a controller, not what I'm trying to do. I don't need to connect it to my XBox console. Humankind isn't even released on console yet so I'm not sure why anyone would want to jury rig it through a console if they already have a pc.

It is a permissions problem. When you create a profile within X-Mouse Button Control for a game you need to select the game .exe through a standard process. When you try to do so you get the error I detailed in the original post.

I should also have clarified I'm on Windows 11. The process to get the appropriate permissions may be the same on Windows 10 but if I knew the answer to that I would likely already be familiar enough not to ask the question.

This is an ongoing problem with running games from MS on a Windows computer. The permissions situation is ridiculous. I typically just give up when confronted with it and play something on Steam. This time I really wanted to try Humankind without having to pay for it given I'm not sure I will like it but of course, confronted with a MS permissions problem once again. This time I decided to create a post asking for help.

Honestly, with the level of sarcasm in my post I'm surprised I got a response! LOL But thanks for overlooking that and trying anyway.

Hi Jason !

So, this problem is on every game, it jerks when i make small movements. If i move very very slowly, the mouse does not react. It not feel natural as the sensation like a PC.

When i use my controller, it feels responsive and naturel.

All Game i tried are installed.

But like i said my problem arrive to many keyboard and mouse player.

I have thé impression to those mouses are not correcty use by the Xbox Serie X.
