How to use Gold subscription to allow 2 online players on 2 consoles?

I just wasted over an hour with MS Support trying to figure out how we can get my 2 sons playing GTA5 online at the same time. I have two copies of the game, two consoles and an XBox Live Gold subscription.

I am logged in on the home XBox playing online and my son is trying to play online on the 2nd console under his account. Is this possible and if so, how can we make it work?

    Thanks.

    :)

Halo 4 multiplayer from same console

I opened an Xbox live gold account. I want to be able to use it on 2 profiles or/and allow multiple players when we play on Halo war games.

    Hey there,

To get it to work I think you'll need to have logged in with a non-gold account on the 'Home' console, and then have the account which owns the Gold Subscription log in on the other Xbox, and then hopefully you should be able to play/find each other. If
that doesn't work it could just be that you need to own two subscriptions to have both consoles playing online at the same time, which is unfortunate and lame, but I'm hoping that setting it up like I've said should get it to work How to use Gold subscription to allow 2 online players on 2 consoles? :)

Thanks for the reply. I have tried both ways i.e. logging on to the home console as the Gold account holder and vice versa and all we keep getting is an error message that "Your profile does not have permission to access GTA online."

    Hey there!

Okay. So you ask about two different scenarios. I'm going to try to get some clarification and see if we can make it work.

Scenario 1: Two separate accounts (I'm assuming both Silver accounts) try to play the same game together online while a
third account is the one that has Xbox Live Gold.

Scenario 2: One of the two accounts trying to play together has Xbox Live Gold and while the other is a Silver account.

For simplicity's sake, let's call the Accounts in question "A", "B", and "G" (for Gold - this is obviously the account that has an active Xbox Live Gold subscription). We'll call the consoles in question X and Y.

In the case of Scenario 2:

Account G would set their home console to console Y. They would then sign into console X using account G while Account A would sign into console Y. So:

Gold account signs into Console X

Silver account signs into Console Y

**Console Y is set to the
    "Home" console
    for the Gold account**

In the case of Scenario 1:

This should work similarly to what I outlined above. The Gold account will still set one console as home. The difference in this case being that the account with Gold will also have to be signed into the console in the background while the two Silver
    accounts can play.

I know that's about as clear as mud but let me know if that helps any. In the end, it may be easier to buy an Xbox Live Gold subscription for one of the Silver accounts (that assumes there's 3 accounts in question here, not two) as it will result in many
less headaches but let's see if we can sort it first. How to use Gold subscription to allow 2 online players on 2 consoles? :)

    Good luck!

    Scenario 2 is correct.

I have an Xbox Live Gold subscription. My sons just have their MS accounts. I have tried scenario two i.e. my account signed in on the 2nd console and my son signed in on the home console. All we keep getting when my son tries to go online within the
game is "Your profile does not have permission to access GTA online."

I have turned off any restrictions I can find on my sons account. Would it be worth creating another account in my wife's name in case my son's age is preventing him from going online? That is the only thing I have not tried to date.

That's worth trying for sure. It's very possible that since the account is classified as a Child account, it's restricting the ability to connect to GTA Online. Give that a shot and let us know how it goes.

    Sorry for the delay.

Creating another 'adult' account did the trick. My account 'Gold" logged in to the home console and the 2nd adult account logged in to the 2nd console is allowing 2 online players at the same time. I think we just need to figure out if there is a way to
both be playing on the same session now.

    Thanks.
