  1. How to use an external HDD/SSD with the Xbox One?

I bought a 2TB SSD, with USB3.0 (USB 3.0 to USB C) to use on my Xbox One as external storage for games and apps.

When I plug it in, I only get the message "New NTFS storage device" on the lower part of the screen. I do NOT get the set up screen where I can format the drive to use as games storage. When I go into the setup menu to format the drive by hand, I do NOT get the option to format it. I can only use it to store pictures, movies and music.

After reading some forum posts I did the following (to no avail):

    - Try different USB ports
    - Turn off the console, then restart and plug in the drive AFTER the Xbox completely powered up
    - Turn off the console, then plug in the drive, then restart

The result in all cases is the same: The drive is only recognized as an external NTFS storage device without the possibility of formatting it. Does anyone have an idea what the reason is and how I can fix it? Is it possible that not all drives that fulfill the requirements (storage > 128GB and USB 3.0) work?

    :)

"as it came so source or it was mounted, as if it were a white mark."

I don't understand what you mean.

The cable is the one that came with the SSD, so it should be a USB 3.0 plug, as it says on the box it came in. It is NOT a Seagate SSD (does it have to be?)

It is a USB 3.0 plug on one side and a USB C plug on the other. The USB C goes into the SSD, the USB 3.0 into the Xbox or PC. Pretty standard.

Hello again, I mentioned Seagate as an example because it is a licensed brand for Xbox products.

The big issue of white marks is that you do not know the quality of the case in which they put the SSD, so it may be some problem with the case, because by definition it should be recognized by the console.

What do you mean by USB 3.0 to USB see? The Xbox has no USB-C ports.

If this is a USB-C hard drive, and you’re using an adapter to a standard 3.0 a connector, it’s quite possible that the adapter is interfering with the drives, the speed being properly detected, which is why you’re not getting the option to format. the same thing happens with display port adapters.

I don't know what white marks are.

So, do I need to buy a Seagate HDD/SSD? In case I have, is any Seagate fine or does it have to be one of the gaming HDD/SSD? Or are most bigger brands fine?

Mine is a cheap. I also just tried to plug in a WD HDD, just to see if that would work, but it also just says "SCSI device detected" and does not prompt the format option.
