    How to transfer Minecraft Windows 10 to a new device


    I recently got a new computer and I was working on transferring files and games, and I couldn't transfer Minecraft for Windows 10. I have browsed the Internet for a solution for this problem but found nothing. I logged into the new computer with a different outlook account so the OneDrive didn't automatically transfer everything as I thought it would be nice to have a fresh start on my main Microsoft account. I am logged into the store with the same account however on which I bought the game and I can not seem to be able to install it on my new pc. I even tried using the move file feature in the windows storage setting to attempt to move it via an external hard drive, but that didn't work either. I was hoping someone would be able to help me resolve this issue as I already own the game and can not play it on my new pc.

    To clarify, do you own Minecraft through the Microsoft store? Are you trying to get your Minecraft game from a windows 10 device to a windows 8 device?

    Let us know these details. For now, it is not possible to transfer Minecraft (for windows 10) from a windows 10 device to a windows 8 device.

    The Minecraft Xbox One Edition only works on the Xbox One Edition.

    You might want to upgrade to the Minecraft (without Xbox One Edition in the name) on your Xbox. If you bought Minecraft Xbox One Edition digitally, you can upgrade to "Minecraft" for free.

    Then you can import your world from the Xbox One Edition to "Minecraft" for Xbox One.

    However, the Support page for Windows 10 Minecraft states: "The Windows 10 Edition does not currently support the transferring of worlds from other devices."

    So you can't transfer your world between devices.

    You might have to move your World to a paid online Realm server to access it. Or you might have to run your Xbox One Minecraft in Multiplayer, and connect to the running world on your Xbox One with your Windows 10 version.

    But you can't have your World separately transferred from Xbox to other devices.

    As I said, you can try hosting your world on a Realm server (which you need to pay for), and can then access it with Windows 10, Xbox One, Android, iOS and Nintendo Switch.

    But not JAVA.

    Thank you for taking the time to post this on the Xbox Forums. We understand that you are seeking a way to transfer a Java World to an Xbox One World.

    This is not possible, you are not able to transfer a World to from Java, to console, much less if this is not the Windows 10 Edition of Minecraft.

    As far as transferring Worlds in the Bedrock edition of Minecraft, you can take a look at

    Completely understand why you would not want to create a new character, but unfortunately the two different platforms do not transfer across one another. Minecraft needs to set up a "cross save" feature to accomplish this.
