How to test 4k Ultra HD Video via Xbox One?

I read an interesting article about 6 months back or so, saying 4k essentially will be here today and gone tomorrow being 8k is already being developed. The biggest issue with 4k on existing consoles it the standard blu ray player won't be able to play
it.

As far as streaming something in 4k, you're going to have to have a pretty rocking internet. A 4k video is going to be about 20gb in size, so any poor soul that has data caps is going to be hosed.

As of now in the US, cable providers aren't even broadcasting in 1080p because of their own bandwidth limitations and the cost of upgrading would be immense. The industry is guessing that is still 2 to 3 years away.

As with most things that has to deal with electronics people like to put the cart before the horse.

It is way to early to speculate what will happen. We will just have to wait and see.

 

@Cheesy. nobody knows as the XB does not display in 4K. The signal to the TV needs to be in 4K.

It is like when HD first came out. Everyoen went out and bought a flat screen HD tv and used the same old component hook ups from their VCR/DVD basic cable and thought they had HD.

@Boas, I am sure there will be a jump to a higher reso after 4K but like how it is now.. what is the "norm" 1080 right? remember how expensive 4K TVS were 5 years ago? $6500.. so once most of the signals starting outputting in 4K and the consumers (who
set the market) all start buying 4K TVs it will be the norm..

 

Im not sure that 4k wil last that long tbh. It may end up like mini disc or HD DVD.

As mentioned though nobody can predict the future.

I personally will not be rushing to buy a 4k tv, i will wait until mine dies or 8k becomes affordable.

When the XO can output to 4k i may change my mind tho lol.

 

I read an article the otehr day about 4K tvs and the streaming service. Just to download a movie took around 8 hours. I think that what we have currently is perfectly fine, sure don't see the point of something as ridicolous as 8K resolution...that will
be such a memory hog and bandwidth nightmare for those that already have capping issues. If this whole internet nuetrality thing passes in congress it could mean caps for the U.S. as well. 4K is nice...but 1080p ain't exactly bad either.

 

things change and improve all the time, as tech progresses internet speeds will get faster.

 

until my cable provider starts pushing 4K through the History or Discovery channel...Ill stick with my 1080 TV.. I say within 3 years they should
