How to stop a child purchasing games

I know this question has been asked, however it does not appear to been answered with a solution. Is there a simple way to stop a child purchasing add ons once they are online playing a game. I appreciate all children should know that they are not allowed
without consent, but a mixture of sly software companies & the 99p tactic its too easy for a child to click X & buy. Why can't there just be a .... Would you like a password to buy games or apps option? Sorry, I am all a bit new to this so I would really appreciate
an answer so I can set up our 360 to prevent further expenditure. Many Thanks

    :)

  2. Games and Sharing them!

    Hi there,

If the purchasing account has a console marked as it's home console all accounts on that console can play the purchasing account's games.

You may be able to correct the birthdate on your main account now and then promote it to an adult account so you can do the purchase on your main account. Steps on how to do that can be found here:

    windows.microsoft.com/.../child-birthdate-microsoft-account

Let us know if that helps.

Issues with purchasing xbox 360 games

    Hey all!

There are a few reasons why you may not be able to purchase an Xbox 360 game from your Xbox One. For full details check out how to Troubleshoot
    Xbox 360 Marketplace Purchasing
. The leading cause is generally attempting to make the purchase from a child account. Thanks for your patience and understanding!

How to stop a child purchasing games

The only way would be to not leave a payment option on file. There's no way to add a password just for purchases.

I was going to ask the same thing, but it won't let me remove the payment option on file. It says it's needed for the gold membership. Am I doing something wrong or is there another way to remove the payment on file?

Shorty, you have the renewal of the Gold membership on. Meaning, your account will automatically ask you if you want to renew your Gold memberhsip through that payment option. As of what I heard before, if your payment option has expired, or is having problems,
then your account will be suspended. Not 100% sure, though.

  7. No, it is your responsibility to make sure your children act appropriately and not Microsoft's. Further if said child is under the age of 13 you must legally--per the ToU agreement you signed--monitor the child constantly while Xbox LIVE is being used.
If you are doing what you're supposed to then you shouldn't have an issues.

Or you can be the parent and create a child account like you supposed to and put parental controls on it

It is ultimately the responsibility of the parent to supervise electronic use

    Consoles are not babysitters

  10. Of course consoles aren't babysitters and it's the parents' ultimate responsibility, but God knows Microsoft could have parental controls like AT&T's that require a parent to approve before a kid charges a $50 game on a credit card that Microsoft requires
be attached to the account, even when the parent has no intention of buying anything. So I call B.S. on you all.

  11. Microsoft does not require a credit card be attached to a child's account. In fact most of them time support staff tells parents to create a child account when this issue comes up so that there won't be a credit card on file.

  12. Hello Boykers...there are a couple of things you can easily do. First, remove any credit card payment info on file. If you have auto-renewal turned on for your membership, you will have to turn it off first. This will prevent your child from making unauthorized
purchases as there is no cc on file to use. Second, you could create a child account on your console and you can set parental controls for that account. A separate membership fee may be required, but your child will have their own account separate from yours.
You can also add Microsoft currency to their (or your) account through pre-paid cards available at most retailers. Maybe tell them its their "allowance" and if they burn through it too quickly they will have to wait until the next time you add funds. Hope
this answer has been helpful, it is the best solution I could think of.

This right here is your BEST option. Child accounts have a slew of settings that can be adjusted to prevent unauthorized access to many parts of the Marketplace and XBL service. Just make sure you set a pass code on your adult account
to prevent the child from using that to get what he wants and make sure he doesn't see you enter it or know what it is.

Its too easy for kids to make purchases. Yes, parents monitor their children, you can see what game your child is playing, but no parent with other responsibilities, other children would be able to sit and watch them play the game nonstop for an hour or
however long. It only takes seconds for them to click yes and purchase a game or add-on and therefore easily to do without the parent seeing even if the parent is keeping a watchful eye. Its simply too easy for kids to make purchases. And, for one of my
sons that is over 13, we do not want all the restrictions that comes with a child account- most content blocking is not necessary, but I still don't want him using the credit card- which has happened and yes I told him no and yes there were consequences, but
it still cost the money. It seems that it would be so simple to just have the option question- "Do you want to be able to charge game and add-on purchases to this credit card account?" click no.

Microsoft reacts as if they don't care. Referring to fine print and not listening to the problem and help deal with it. The whole xbox live account management is a joke and should be revised. Why is it so hard for MS personnel to understand that their customers
are screaming for better payment restrictions and doing something anything about it ?

This is my sons account..just added a month subscription...and now can't remopve any cc of payment options until the subscription has ended ? What's the loigic in that ? The account is billed, payment is handled..why lock this? Please MS people..take a closer
look to IOS and their restrictions possibily and make the 15 min programming effort top punt in a passcode lock on parental restrictions on EVERY account and add payment and dopnload restrictions in it. WHY IS THIS SO HARD TO UNDERSTAND ???
