How to set up a "parent account"

I know that. I am asking, how do my parents set up the account for me?

If you follow the link that Smwutches posted, it explains how to set up home xbox. Which is what you will have to do for your parent account. Be warned game save and progress will stay on the parent account and the child account will start as new.

You need to go to
https://account.xbox.com/settings to make these changes.

If you get a table with online and privacy settings, you can simply set up your account to your liking.

If however, you get a page explaining how to add a child account to a parent account, then you need to ask your parents to sign in to
https://account.microsoft.com/family and add your account to the adult parent family account (if not already done so).

After your account was added to the family, your parents have to go to https://account.xbox.com/settings and sign in with their parent account. Then they choose your account,
and make the appropriate settings.

Is there any way of finding out what the parental account would have been, we don't really understand it and have no idea how we set it up 3 years ago.

Thank you, that's most likely my issue. How can I set up a parental account though? Or simply know which one that is when I first set my account up? I haven't found any indications of such information.
