How to remove xbox account from A broken xbox which is being sold for parts

There is no need to remove it from that console. Just change your password on your account - make sure it's unique, strong and not easily guessable - and that's it, the account will no longer be accessible on the old console.

So if They fix the console im guessing it will prompt them with a password.

ive heard that if its your home xbox then the account stays on even if password is changed. Is this true.

Yes, it will prompt for a password. Since they won't know your new password they won't be able to use your account (hence the strong password advice).

Setting the Home Xbox needs to be done with your account. You should do this on your new console. This removes it from the old one.

I didn't is the thing. The only thing I can think of is a broken Xbox i sold to gamestop that they didn't wipe. I removed the devices from my account. How should I go about trying to get a refund for their purchases?
