How to remove an unauthorised’Organiser’ setting

    Hi there,

Im not sure how he did it, but my 14yr old son has changed his Microsoft Family account setting to ‘organiser’. Is there a step by step guide on how to change it back without having to completely delete his profile and achievements?

I’ve added myself back in as another organiser on a different new profile with the intention of removing his status (as i know all the logins etc ),but every time i try to ‘remove’ him it says i need to amend the permissions for my other childrens accounts
with no clear method of doing so.

    can anyone help?

    Thanks

    :)

How to remove an unauthorised’Organiser’ setting

    Thanks for the post.

It seems that every step i try to put in to give him boundaries he finds a way around it. He also found out that if he passes me his device to have a limit extended, e.g homework, if i dont close down all screen limit pages before handing it back he can
add in sites that are always allowed. (Thats even when i check he is not screen recording!)

im not sure what will teach him.

Thanks for the help, it worked!

I cant believe how devious they can be.!

I’ve since discovered that he had also been logging into younger brothers account and using up his screen time when his ran out... they are always one step ahead. He even set up a VPN to bypass the games blocking option on my router, so if i can work out
how to block that we are sorted!

    thanks again

So glad you got it sorted!

...and yes, you're right, they are as devious as we were, at their age, just in different ways!

The problem is, just at the moment I'm still on top of all the IT stuff, but fairly soon, I know they're going to run rings around me, and then I've had it!

Take care, glad I could help and stay safe.

    Cheers

    Reg.

I've just had this exact problem with my son! The easiest way to do it is to just delete his profile, but that, although it would teach him a lesson, does seem a little harsh - he has worked hard building up his game achievements, for instance. All you need
to know is that he / you have access to the email account that acts as the log in for his profile. First of all, change your password for your account log in - he probably knows this & this is how he's altered his status from member to organiser in the first
    place!

So, after that, what I did was this-

    1. Log in to microsoft family using your organiser profile.

    2. Click on your profile and go down to family members.

    3. Remove his profile from the family.

    4. Go back and add a new member to the family.

    5. Add his email address to add him back in as a member of the family albeit as a new member.

    6. Make sure that you select him as "member" rather than "organiser".

    7. He will get an email invite to join back into the family, then you approve that using your credentials.

    8. He should now be in as a member, but not an organiser.

    Hope this helps!

    Take care & stay safe.

It is the harshness, the pain, that teaches them a lesson, otherwise the next day they are looking for another method to bypass the security.
