How to remove alternative email attached to my main Microsoft email?

Right. So I had a chat to Xbox Support about it. Turns out that the email I wanted to change to is set as the alternative email for my current account. So I needed to remove the alternative email, wait 30 days (as this was a change to my account so I can't
change emails) and then I can do it.

This is just ludicrous. It shouldn't be that hard to change the email attached to a gamertag.

You can switch the emails around but there's a bit of a process to do so. You would need to add the new email you want to use as an "alternate email in account settings " Then remove the old (main) email and make the alternate email the new main email account. It sounds confusing but it's a fairly simple process and it will get you the results you want.

In order to change out the primary email for a gamertag to another one, the gamertag has to be removed. If there is a gamertag attached to the email, then it will only allow the new email to be connected to the gamertag as a secondary email instead of a
primary email.

Basically, it is going to be like musical chairs. Move each of the gamertags to another email to free the email. Create an account that will not be used on a daily basis. Move the gamertag from the email that is going to be used. Then it will free up the
email to use with the main gamertag.

I use my email all the time. My email is attached to my sons xbox game pass.

How do I replace it without losing my email address with his or affecting how I sing into my email.

Is the existing email a Microsoft email? If it is then you can't remove it without your email being deleted forever.

There is an option to add a Microsoft Account Alias. Doing this allows you to switch your Xbox account to a new email of your choice. After doing this you will need to set the new email as your primary alias. You will then have the ability to remove your
dad's email address! Below are the steps to accomplish this:

1. Login to your Microsoft account via account.microsoft.com

2. Click Your Info at the top of the page once signed in

3. Select Manage how you sign in to Microsoft from the options that appear

4. Click Add Email underneath your current email address

5. From the options that appear, choose whether you would like to use a
new or existing email address for your account. Select the applicable option from the list and follow the on-screen instructions to finish attaching the alias to your account.

*If you are adding an existing email address, it can not already be associated with another Microsoft account.*

When visiting the Manage how you sign in to Microsoft page, a list of email addresses attached to your account should appear. Once you have attached a new alias, you will need to set this as your
Primary alias as the account's main associated email address. After this you will be able to remove your dad's email from the account. Configure your Microsoft account alias with the following steps:

1. To set a newly attached address as your primary alias, click Make Primary below the main email address you are looking to use. This will set the selected address as your main address for your Microsoft Account and displayed across Microsoft
services.

2. To remove an old email address account from your Microsoft account, click
Remove next to the email you want to detach. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete this process.
