    How to recover your account without your phone number


    Hello, I am currently having a basic issue and it is impossible for me to contact anyone at the support. That is why I am writing on here.

    The issue is that I'm trying to sign in my new Xbox console in a new location - Europe instead of the US, but the system wants to verify that it's me by sending me a code on my previous phone number that I don't have anymore. So I have never received the code. So I am stuck even though I have all my credentials. Same thing for accessing my outlook email address, it asks for a code sent on my previous phone number that I don't have anymore. Can you please help me? The subscription is still active and I can't use it because of that issue. Thank you so much

    When you first setup 2FA under your old phone number on your account it wouldve given you several backup codes that it would have told you to save. (they are meant for this exact sort of situation).

    Did you make sure to save those codes? If so you can enter one of those codes instead when it asks for the code being sent to your old phone number.

    If you didnt save those codes then the account is unfortunately forever lost as those codes would have been your last resort into the account in this sort of situation.

    You may try to recover your account using a phone number through this link https://account.live.com/username/recover

    Just make sure that the phone number was added to your previous account or was part of your account alias.

    Hello Zu, actually in these cases it is not possible to recover your account without having access to the phone number that received the security number, and unfortunately it is not possible to make an account recovery with 2Fa enabled.
