How to play pocket edition with minecraft full game on xbox live?

Hello all,

My kids got an xbox 1 "minecraft edition" for Christmas. It came with a few 25 digit codes to download the Minecraft Full Game and Explorers Pack. We downloaded the Full Game and my kids have been enjoying that.

A friend also has an xbox 1 and she purchased the Minecraft Pocket edition disc to play.

We both have xbox live (gold) and have friended each other and would like to play minecraft together online.

Is there a way to do that since the games aren't exactly the same? If so, how?

Connect to external server using Windows 10 Edition

With Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition, you can connect and play online with friends on Pocket Edition as well as the Xbox One Edition. However, until the full rollout of the upcoming Better Together update for Minecraft, you aren't able to connect to servers
outside of realms and what I've previously mentioned.

Playing Minecraft between devices and platforms

You can play Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition with other devices running Minecraft: Pocket Edition, such as Windows 10 and Windows Phone devices.
If you have Minecraft: Apple TV Edition, you can play locally with other players running a version of Minecraft: Pocket Edition. Visit Minecraft: Apple TV Edition overview

Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition can only be played with other Xbox 360 consoles on Xbox Live. The Xbox One edition can only be played online with other Xbox One consoles. There is no cross-platform play between the Xbox editions and other editions of Minecraft.

 

In order for the two of you to play together you would both need the better together version of minecraft. If you have the xbox one edition of minecraft it is not compatible with the pocket edition.
