How to play Atmos audio from any video file?

I also re-installed the dolby acces app. Demo content in the app itself plays sound from my height speakers and the rest of my speakers. I only get this problem when playing games, where only the height speakers are not playing any sound at all.

It seems that the console and your audio system is properly configured for Dolby Atmos, since the Atmos Demo works.

Also try to download the free "Insects" demo from Microsoft, which allows you to switch between Dolby Atmos and "regular" surround sound.

Check if Atmos works in that demo, as the Atmos Demos in the app are usually videos with a fixed, pre-rendered audio track.

Also, which games are you trying exactly? Do the games really support Dolby Atmos themselves? Because the Xbox One S will not "upscale" regular surround sound from non-Atmos games to have height information.

I have the same issue on my newly bought One S.

The Dolby Atmos app plays Atmos demos fine.

However, Film & TV doesn't.

I downloaded demo Atmos files (.mkv, with HEVC video) and put them on an external drive, that I connected to the Xbox. The Film & TV app will play the videos fine, but won't play the Atmos sound track, even though I have bitstreaming and Atmos turned on
in the Xbox settings.

If the files have an AC3 track, then that gets played, otherwise there is no sound.

Turns out I was wrong. Uninstalling and reinstalling DID help.

The reason that I thought it didn't is that after I installed it again, it didn't automatically change the audio setting from DTS to Atmos. The Dolby app looked like it was all set up and let me play the sample files, but it wasn't enabled. After I discovered
that and changed it manually, now I'm getting audo from all 11.1 speakers.

Another thing I've discovered is that only true Atmos content will play out of my mid-height and rear surrounds. 7.1 on down is played in only the other 7.1 speakers. So it's actually kind of cool that now I know how to tell whether the audio that is playing
is truly Atmos or not.

Everything checked and I was left with resetting the console which I did.

Everything is the same so while I change in Xbox settings to Atmos audio I'm not getting any sound from menu or for example from diablo 4.

Atmos sound is working only in demo videos in Dolby app.

Please help....

My Xbox One X is connected to my receiver. When I try to setup Atmos in the audio settings Xbox One X says that my receiver, Denon AVR-4300H, does not have Atmos capability. I am only allowed to choose DTS for the bitstream sound output. Atmos works fine
with my Samsung 4K player so I know it is an Xbox One X issue.

The Dolby App does not give any error until I try to view the demo videos where it flashes, "you are not viewing this video on Dolby Atmos." It plays the demo video on DTS instead.
