Unfortunately, you're not able to use Microsoft Credit to pay for memberships. You'll need to pay with your Paypal account or credit/debit card.

Make sure your account is not past due by logging in and review the subscription

If you don't have a past due balance and want to pay for Xbox game pass or Xbox live and have enough funds from the gift cards, you should be able to purchase, please check the following page https://beta.support.xbox.com/help/subscriptions-billing/redeem-codes-gifting/types-of-prepaid-codes

If you can't make the purchase at all, then I recommend requesting a call from the Xbox Support team to help with that

When you make the purchase you should be able to choose your Microsoft account balance as the payment option. Since it starts a recurring subscription, you'll need either enough funds in your account for the next payment or a credit card/Paypal on file
as well in order to complete the purchase.
