    How to move DLC from a game downloaded on XBOX PC app (Microsoft Store) to an external drive?


    Again I am having issues with this extemelly complicated and buggy software called Microsoft Store, and it's new games shell Xbox App for PC.

    I find it very frustrating, that it doesn't have interfaces, to let you know where your donwloaded games are stored, you have to remember where they were installed in the first place.

    I am currently having a problem with Forza Horizon 4 Lego Expansion pack. I think the expansion pack was installed on my system drive, rather than on my external drive, where the main game is installed.

    The problem is that I barely have any space on my Windows partition, and I keep all games on external drives. There is no way so far to move the expansion to the same drive where the main game is installed.

    Has anyone find a hack/solution for this? I am very annoyed at the horrible state of Microsoft Store, and the Xbox games app. I understand that Microsoft products are always to be expected to have problems, but can't they put a bit more effort on making apps
    friendly to users, and working properly?

    Thanks in advance. I expect the usual robot-like response from some Microsoft adviser telling me to run chkdsk, but hopefully there is someone out there that has solved this for real.

    Forza Horizon 5 is not able to download to an external drive.

    All of my Microsoft and Xbox games are downloaded on my external drive including the previous Horizon, which is Forza Horizon 4. I changed where new apps are stored when downloaded from the Microsoft store to my external drive but it still wont download Forza Horizon 5 to my external drive. On the Xbox app it wont show my external drive as an option to download to. I am able to download any game from the Microsoft store and Xbox app to my external drive except Forza Horizon 5.

    Do DLC’s carry over to pc?

    The game and DLC is Xbox Play Anywhere, so it should work on your PC. Make sure you have downloaded the game and dlc from the Microsoft Store or Xbox app on PC with the same account that is being used on the Xbox.

    Is this happening with the Microsoft store / Xbox app version of the game?

    If yes, may I know why you didn't use the "Move" option available inside Windows settings?

    I ask this because even if you decide to clon an entire drive or copy/paste a game downloaded from the Xbox app / Microsoft store on another PC or drive without doing it from the Windows settings

    The PC and the Xbox app is not going to recognize the game as installed

    Hey there.

    Not to my knowledge from PC... if you have a friend with an Xbox One and an internet connection, you could always take an external hard drive (at least 256GB in size and using USB 3.0) and download the app to that, and then move the app to your Xbox One
    at home.

    DLCs files for games on the Microsoft store shouldn't be moved manually, and the game should recognize the DLC once you install them.

    Konstantinos, is the game and the DLC installed on the same drive on your PC?

    If your answer is negative, please make sure to move both the games and the DLC to the same drive. Otherwise, please try this on your PC:

    Press the Windows key + I > Go to Apps > Installed apps > search the game and click on more > advanced options > click repair and click reset > re-open the game and verify if the purchased DLC appears.
