How to make/set up a static IP on Xbox Series X

I don’t really understand how to make a static IP and I would like to make one. I’ve tried to set up many static ip before but all of them always fail to connect or there’s just an issue with them.

Hi there!

To set a static IP address on your console, you must base the IP address from your router. If you have multiple devices connected to your router, you must check them one by one to make sure that there's no conflict of the IP address you set on your console. For example, if you set 192.168.8.3 as a static IP on your console, no other devices should have that. I suggest to set static IP on all of your devices to avoid conflicts because those devices automatically acquired IP address and it may use the IP address you set on your console if it's not connected to the network.

Another question I have is, does the static ip I put in my Xbox need to be within or out of range of my DHCP start and end address?

In order to make your IP stay constant, you will want to set a static IP. You can do this on your Xbox One by going to Network Settings -> Set up Network, and you will be able to set your own IP address.

Open the standard ports for your first xbox and set it up with static IP.

For your second Xbox, also another static IP. Then you go on xbox setup to the network settings and select there alternative ports.

(I have also two Xbox One X in my network and both has open NAT)
