How to know if Im having a official xbox series x/s controller

Aside from the box what are the other ways to tell. I just bought a controller, pulse red, and wanted to make sure if it is legit and official. Others tell that having a "Hello from Seattle" sentence at the back is one way to tell which my controller have. I also tried to google the model no. and it showed the pulse red controller. The sticker serial number at the box and at the back are the same details too. And I also go to Microsoft support site and registered my device using serial number which detected my device and showed me the warranty. But in this site Request an Xbox controller replacement | Xbox Support, it says "We couldn't find that serial number".

Sounds like it is an official controller. It maybe that the serial number database hasn't caught up yet. This has happened to me in the past.

Wireless controllers that connect to the console (that don't require a separate receiver) are only made by Microsoft. You can purchase non-official controllers that either require to be wired or have a separate dongle you need to plug in. If you have neither of these, I will say it's official.

I do use the Bluetooth to connect my controller, no wireless adaptor.

I actually saw that Xbox accessories app (it's not installed) but I'm afraid to use it because I saw someone bricked their controller using it and they had to make a ticket for replacement for a controller. Also the accessories app doesn't have a good rating in the store.

Anymore suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

That's a good question and I'm not sure.

Connecting it to your laptop uses Bluetooth (unless you are using a wireless adaptor) but connecting it to a console uses Microsoft's proprietary wireless connection. I think activation is only done through the console, but I could be wrong.

Have a look at the Xbox accessory app on your laptop or console and see what it shows.

Thank you for the response. I really can't tell about connecting to a console yet, I have only test the controller on my laptop using wireless connection and it works.

By the way do you know how to activate a controller in laptop (the site tells "Serial numbers aren’t recognized until 48 hours have passed after initial activation")? I don't know if I activated it or how to activate it.

Regarding on the database maybe I'll check it again after few days.
