    How to I lower the quality of youtube on the xbox?


    My son streams youtube a lot on his xbox, and the quality is amazing. The problem is he is destroying my monthly bandwidth. It always streams at the highest quality. I tried pairing it with youtube.com and in that setting you can chose to stream at a
    lower quality, but that only seems to work when he streams on the computer. The xbox is still streaming at full HD quality. I can't seem to find a setting for this. Please help. The only solution I have at this point is to not allow it.

    Crapy Quality On YouTube App

    In the past few days the videos I've watched on YouTube has been in a very low quality.

    Why? Idk that's why I'm here to ask

    its very irritating from going to 1080p to very very low quality like pixelated.

    Is it the servers??? What??

    YouTube stops shortly into a video

    Greetings Skywalker,

    Sorry to hear you're having issues watching videos on the Youtube app.

    There are a couple of things I would recommend trying for this.

    The first would be to:

    1. Uninstall the Youtube app
    2. Reset your console by holding the power button for ~5 seconds
    3. Turning your console back on
    4. Reinstalling the app

    The other suggestion I have for you is to try the steps outlined in our
    Low Streaming Quality     support article.

    Please give all that a shot and let us know how those steps work for you.

    You can change the quality if you stop using the app and view youtube by using the browser. Then, its the settings tab thats on the bottom right of the vid, it looks like a little cog/circle thing. Also i recomend upgrading you're ip to an "unlimited " and
    you really need fibre to get the full potential out of you're broadband and xb1. Upto 20mb or less wont really work with todays 1080i streaming.

    Are you asking how to change settings to use less data? With youtube you can lower the quality of the video. This can virtually be done from any YouTube app. On your xbox when watching a video you can change resolution from the more option and choose a
    lower quality. Should be similar from any other youtube app on other devices. The more option on you xbox app will be the three ellipses.

    My Xbox automatically proceeded to install Youtube today, even though I already had it. The reason was because they did an update and changed Youtube.

    The look is different, the controls are worse, there is no longer any indication if a video is HD, and when you launch a video there is no indication what quality it is being played back in. I think it's defaulting in 720p or compressing the video, instead
    of playing in 1080. I could be wrong, but video quality looks lower, like a compressed jpeg.
