technically it is private because it shows how much you have paid for live over the years, this is revealing personal information regarding expenditure and as such should be selectable to block from view, would you like people to see how much you have spent with microsoft whenever they want. this is a good point being brought up as anything being displayed that shows how much you have spent on something and exactly how long you have had the service as default is actually illegal in the UK and should be off and only on if the customer/subscriber allows it.

The 5 is your tenure. It's how long you've had a Gold subscription. The Gold badge is a new badge to commemorate Xbox Gold which just recently ended.

And the tenure badge for how long you've had a gold/core/ultimate membership.
